The Sadist (1963)

The Sadist

Director: James Landis

The Sadist has been in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. Im mostly into horror but this one somehow creeped in. I dont know if its just that im a huge fan of Arch Hall JR.(both musically and as an actor).

Three people are on there way to a baseball game when they start to have car troubles. They soon come across a roadside junkyard. So they pull in to see about getting their car fixed....and thats where the real trouble begins.

Theyre soon greeted by Charlie and Judy, who take them hostage. The film is supposedly loosely based on the Charles Starkweather story. To me this movie always seems so cool. Its has a bit of a cheesy feeling, but its way better played out than most movies of its time. I think the acting really fits into what you would feel fits the personality of a psychopath. It really gives a good feeling of the late 50's.

Its way better than some of Arch Hall Jr's other flicks, like EEGAH!. I guess it could fit in with early horror, but passes better as a thriller.

CHUD (cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers) 1984

A top secret underground urban waste dump is turning the local homeless people into mutant cannibals......

Ive debated every time i go to Best Buy whether i should pick this up or not. So today i went for it. Got home, popped that sucker in ,and....well....wasnt as cool as it seems. The idea of the movie rules and is right up my alley. I just dont think they pulled it off right.

There was some cool stuff...like these sweet lookin mutant things....some blood....guts....you know, all the good stuff! It wasnt too bad of a movie, just kinda hard to take Daniel Stern seriously.

I picked this up at My Minds Eye Records today. it was dirt cheap...20 smackaroos! I think its more than that on the Big Beat Records Website.

Switchblade Sisters ( 1975)

The Switchblade Sisters

Director: Jack Hill

Foxy chicks, knives, guns, booze, sex......what else could it be? The Switchblade Sisters. Another fine addition to the sick, blood spattered movies Jack Hill has kicked out. This buncha girls are the Dagger Debs the girl chapter of the local Silver Daggers. They and their male cohorts terrorize town and their high school.

The leader of the Deb's, Lace soons meets her match Maggie. Shes the new kid on the block who just wont give in to this gangs shit. They fall into a little rumble that end these gals in the slammer. She can beat em, but she still joins em. They even show the female correctional officers how to really use a plunger!

The Debs soon ditch their wimpy men after the leader gets capped. They join up with a radical political gang and make sure that they're the toughest, #1 gang around. They win, but that's when the real trouble starts......

I got this killer new slab o wax the other day. Its a clear 5 in hand lathe cut record. Its slighty bigger than a cd. I opened it up and could believe how damn little it was.....and how cool it was.
Thee Wild Wraith-Just Set Me Free. The B-Side has a cool cover of Whitey Mack and the Booze Hounds.
