well, not much new here. just tones of crappy yard work. however, i did come across a couple of new records and a pretty sweet super 8 film.
found these 2 sun 78's at a weird barn sale that had about 1500 lps. best part is....they were only 50 CENTS! both are johnny cash: i walk the line and folsom prison blues
this is a pretty cool looking record. they most likely gave these away with the magazine or had a coupon of some sort in the back ads.
i wish these super 8's were longer. i think theyre so cool. it even has peter cushing on the cover! another fine hammer film
i will also have some photos ive taken in a new book along with little creepy/dumb drawings i did above the chapter titles. it will be out in another week or two. ill post a link to buy soon!
Im a huge werewolf fan, well, more a fan of the Wolfman. I just recently picked up a collection of some different werewolf movies that arent the usual popular movies. So i guess i have some things to occupy a bit of my time here:
A young couple are trying to make it the airport when they get into a car crash. A crazy group of gypsies have a motorcycle parked in the middle of the road and the driver of the car smashes into a tree. It seems he has some mysterious pentagram on his palm and no one dares to help him! hmmmm, why?
He and his girlfriend (who is also the President of the USA's daughter) finally make it back to the states. Hes a reporter who has just landed a job as the Press Secretary. Several people are found dead around the greater DC area. He soon realizes that he may be the werewolf!
A top secret underground urban waste dump is turning the local homeless people into mutant cannibals......
Ive debated every time i go to Best Buy whether i should pick this up or not. So today i went for it. Got home, popped that sucker in ,and....well....wasnt as cool as it seems. The idea of the movie rules and is right up my alley. I just dont think they pulled it off right.
There was some cool stuff...like these sweet lookin mutant things....some blood....guts....you know, all the good stuff! It wasnt too bad of a movie, just kinda hard to take Daniel Stern seriously.
I picked this up at My Minds Eye Records today. it was dirt cheap...20 smackaroos! I think its more than that on the Big Beat Records Website.
Its a set of five 7 in records: The Vibes, Meteors, Guana Batz, Stingrays, Bananamen, and the Milkshakes!
To me this was a pretty awesome flick. It made a good impression by someone getting killed less than 5 minutes into the movie. The main character Ginny is recovering from a auto accident that happened a year prior to the story. She suffers from some sort of psychotic blackouts from the treatment she got while in the hospital. Supposedly cured she goes on a forgotten rampage the week before her 18th birthday.
She WAS one of the popular girls in her group of friends. Her memory slowly comes back with each gory murder she commits. She slowly remembers her past and has no recollection of the murders, till the very end.
There was plenty of good ol' bloody scenes. My favorite was the weight lifting scene, and maybe the romantic make out scene that ended up with a skewer down someones throat.
So enough of that non sense....heres some good ol' rock n roll!
The Ding Dongs (Norton) ....Cool new duet featuring Bloodshot Bill and Mark Sultan. A bunch of ragers and stompers. I dig the whole thing, but im leanin a bit towards the ones BB sings on!
Esquerita-You better believe me(Norton) .....not as good of stuff as on the Dew Drop Inn single. It does have a rad Little Richard interview on it!
Bobby "Boris" Picket- Monsers Holiday (Atlantic).....another monster smash by the original king of monster rock n roll.
For some reason this movie popped into my head today. Ive already seen it nearly 10 times, so im sick of watching it. So what do i do? I come home from my super horrid job as a bible printer and write about the movie!
A bunch of kids just lookin to "party down" come across an old burial plot. For some super strange reason he rises from the dead as soon as someone decides mess with his grave! Who coulda figured?! All these dirty kids wanted was some booze, pot, and some NOOKIE! But what do they get? Killed and turned into zombies!
Director and Actor Bill Hinzman was one of the original Night of the Living Dead zombies! so i find it super cool he was still into making these type of flicks over 20 years later. He still looked nearly the same. He even made an apperance in Cleveland at the Lakewood zombie walk a year or two ago. So I guess hes still goin strong!
He supposedly bites into a real pig heart that was used as a prop. I cant really believe thats real because why would they have one? Thats just what i hear so i figure i would pass it along for gossips sake.
My girlfriend and I literally just got done watching some more sleazoid cinema.....The Devils Express. This is a poorly dubbed, no sense making Asian film. So of course it rules! I picked it up at a local video shop a couple of months ago and just watched it today. There's actually another movie on it too! Its part of the Tales of Voodoo releases. I guess they try to release things on DVD that have only previously been available on VHS.
Its the horribly told story of an attempted murder. The woman seeks revenge and has a voodoo mistress cast spells upon her attacker. The movie goes from there. It has a bunch of awesomely gruesome scenes filled with snakes and maggots!Too bad its so unknown that i cant find any pictures to post on here.
We woke up super early this morning and went to the opening day at the county flea market. It sucked, we were hosed! Not too many people showed up, and the ones that did were only selling crap. We found some old dude that had a bunch of GirlSchool records, so me and Erin each got one.
We also went to my favorite record store today.......Hodads! I cant ever leave with out spending most of what i came with. So of course i got a bunch of stuff. Chuck Berry, SAM the Sham, Jack Scott, Phantom Surfers and a slew of other sloppin stompers!
Two college kids attempt to pull a horrible prank so they can get into the local frat house! They are supposed to steal a body from the college morgue and throw it on a campus door step. They stumble across a man who has been cryogenically frozen for the past 27 years. Doing what any kid would do, they unfreeze it.
Soon the man unleashes his brain altering parasites. Once people get close it slides in their mouths and they get zombiefied! Then the ultra-witty college kids attempt to stop the spread of the wicked parasite!
This is the original to the newer movie called Slither. They both have the same basic plot and concept. This is one of the better horror/comedies of the 80's. It also has a lot of older horror/sci-fi references in it. In one scene a sorority mother is watching Plan 9 From Outer Space. Wait, i forgot!.....It even has a kid on crutches that fights Zombies!
Got some new records too!
This one has a ton of cool 80's rock-a-billy/psych-o-billy!
It even came with a Meteors 7in.
I got this cup from an old man at an estate sale! It rules!
Another drawing i did a while back, I'm still trying to get them all scanned onto my computer.
Six crazy friends decide to go grave digging, and find a new friend named Orville. Orville is a corpse used to help act out a satanic ritual to raise the dead! After a lot of wasted time and bad acting the ritual works. Slowly the zombies are back from the grave.
Even though there are a lot of horrible actors in the movie it isn't as bad what i usually enjoy. It has a good plot, but has a real slow start. I even think the main character has some sort of necromantic thoughts towards Orville...who knows it might be true!
The movie is dripping with gay references and awesome 70's style! Plaid shirts and striped pants never looked so cool! It took a while till the action picked up, then it was full throttle till the end. Everyone died....that's how a good horror movie ends. The zombies then decide to take a little trip and board the boat that the ritualists arrived on. CLEVER!!!!
Got some new records too!
Luis and the Wildfires.....this is one of the best rockabilly records Ive heard in a while. Its solid all the way through.... a real party stomper!
Los Explosivos.....awesome Mexican garage. Again, all the songs are real stompers. It has a cover of Louie, Louie. Other than that i don't know what any of the songs are called since they're all in Spanish!
